Brewery Tours

We offer free brewery tours every Saturday at 3pm. Tours include two tastings of our beer. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you have a party of 10 or more, please contact us in advance by emailing Tours@HopworksBeer.com. Take into consideration that we try to limit each tour to 20 people. The Hopworks tour is through a working brewery and we ask that all guests wear closed-toe shoes for their safety.  Thank you.

Join us at the Dock Sales bar, grab a pint of beer, and meet a few new people. Our tour starts in front of our 20 barrel brewhouse, which consists of a mash and lauter tun, boil kettle, and whirlpool. The mash and lauter tun is where we take the finest organic grains and extract sugar that will eventually convert to alcohol and CO2. We send this unboiled liquid to the…

boil kettle and add the famous brewer’s spice – hops – to the mix for varying degrees of balance and bitterness. The liquid then takes a quick spin in the whirlpool to filter out spent hops and proteins. Hop Heads will be pleased to know that many of our beers, like the classic Hopworks IPA, then receive an extra special hop blast in our hop back before entering fermentation tanks.

Meet our Cleaning In Place (CIP) Skid. This wonderful machine may look a little like Hal 9000 but we promise its purpose is a force for good. Our CIP allows us to reuse fermentation tank cleaner and rinse water up to five times while maintaining the temperature and chemical effectiveness. #iseefaces

If you were stuck on a tropical island, the only two things you would need are a giant cooler and enough beer to last a lifetime. We’ve got that at Hopworks, and on our tour you’ll get a first hand look at the walk-in cooler that stores and sends beer to our bar upstairs.

Another great feature on our tour is many a brewer’s favorite pieces of equipment – our centrifuge. This beautiful machine takes our beer from the fermentation tanks and spins it at high velocities to remove suspended yeast before it goes into bottles, cans, and kegs.

If you think all the magic happens during brewing, imagine a room packed with massive stacks of Abominable Winter Ale cans waiting to be filled with glorious beer. In addition to housing large fermenters and the world’s smallest QA lab, this warehouse room holds our in-house canning and bottling lines.
